A reduction or delay in the biological capacity of a person or couple to achieve a pregnancy after twelve months or more of conception attempts (whether through regular unprotected intercourse or assisted reproduction procedures). Unlike absolute sterility, it represents reduced reproductive efficiency where conception remains statistically possible but requires a prolonged period of time.
