Thanks to recent advancements in cancer treatment, the rates of complete remission are improved, so a greater effort is necessary for the preservation of both fertility and gonadal endocrine function, especially in young or prepubertal patients requiring radiotherapy. 

Younger age at radiation exposure is associated with better ovarian preservation.
