menopause
The period in a woman's life when the ovarian follicles stop maturing due to low oestrogen production in the ovaries. This physiological process usually occurs between the ages of 45 and 55. Menopause is confirmed when a woman has not had a menstrual period for 12 consecutive months, provided that the absence of menstruation is not due to any other obvious physiological or pathological cause or clinical intervention.
