An ultra-rapid cryopreservation technique that uses high concentrations of cryoprotectants and extreme cooling rates to promote the transition from a liquid phase to an amorphous glass-like state, bypassing ice crystal formation. In assisted reproduction, it is used for the long-term storage of oocytes and embryos in liquid nitrogen (-196 °C).
