Examples
It is well known that premature ovarian failure can negatively impact quality of life, causing a variety of climacteric symptoms, urogenital and sexual dysfunctions, emotional disturbances, decreased bone mineral density, and impaired lipid profile.
As a much lower dose, less than 4 Gy, can destroy 50% of immature oocytes, a premature ovarian failure may be expected as a possible consequence of every pelvic radiotherapy if not preceded by ovarian transposition.
