assisted hatching
A laboratory technique used in some in vitro fertilisation (IVF) cycles in which the embryo’s zona pellucida (ZP) is thinned or a small opening is made in it, using mechanical, chemical or laser methods, to facilitate blastocyst hatching and subsequent implantation in the endometrium.
