Preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) is a diagnostic technique used for evaluating the DNA of embryos before implantation to prevent serious genetic disorders in the future baby. In current clinical usage, this term has largely been replaced by preimplantation genetic testing for monogenic disorders (PGT-M).
