PAPP-A
The pregnancy-associated plasma protein-A (PAPP-A) is a glycoprotein produced by the placenta whose activity is essential for the process of placentation and fetal growth. Low levels of this protein in maternal serum during the first trimester of pregnancy are predictive of chromosomal abnormalities.
