embryo vitrification
An ultra-rapid cryopreservation technique which prevents intracellular ice crystal formation by using high concentrations of cryoprotectants and extremely fast cooling rates. This preserves cellular integrity and post-thaw viability. This technique is currently the standard approach for oocyte and embryo cryopreservation in assisted reproduction. It is also known as embryo ultrarapid vitrification; vitrification of embryos.
