beta-hCG
A glycoprotein secreted by embryonic trophoblast cells shortly after implantation of the embryo in the uterus. The increase in serum Beta-hCG levels after conception makes it a reliable marker for early confirmation of pregnancy. It is also known as β-hCG and HCG.
