ovarian atrophy
An atrophy characterised by a decrease in ovarian size and the progressive loss of functional follicular tissue. It occurs naturally during menopause or prematurely due to pathologies, leading to a drastic drop in estrogen and progesterone production, as well as the cessation of oocyte release.
